With these thoughts  I was already kneeling at Reverend Mother's 
feet and kissing her ring.  She took both my hands  in hers  and 
looked at me  lovingly and  long  without saying a word,  until 
I  felt  rather  uncomfortable.   Finally  she  spoke.

こうしたことを思いながら、私はもう院長先生の足元に跪き、
先生の御手を取って、指輪に口づけていました。先生は私の
両手をご自分の手に握り、優しく私を見つめ、しばらくは、
無言のままでした。やがて、私も窮屈さを感じ始めたころ、
先生はついに言葉を口にされました。
