As the weeks passed, I avoided my husband's eyes. There
was a certain glitter, a certain twinkle which annoyed me.
Finally everything comes to an end. When the last guest
had waved bood-bye, we sat around the dining-room
table alone once more. It was so quiet. Rupert seemed to
mumble something to himself, and Maria was deeply
concentrated, counting on her fingers.
