That first week in Vienna was lots of fun. During the day
I was in a private clinic for the necessary tests to be made,
and in the evening we went to the opera or the theatre. We
enjoyed ourselves thoroughly, and I almost forgot what I was
in Vienna for, until the doctor informed me that the tests
showed it was kidney stones, and an operation was unavoid-
able.

ウィーンでの最初の週は愉快なことがたくさんありまし
た．昼間は必要な検査をしてもらうのにめ、ずっと診療所
にいましたが、夕方は私たちはオペラ、すなわち劇場へ出
かけたのでした．私たちは心ゆくまで楽しみました．それ
で、ついうっかり何しにウィーンまで来たのは忘れるとこ
ろでしたが、医者に検査の結果、腎臓結石だと教えられ、
そして手術が不可避だと言われてしまったのです．
