It was time to go down into the church. The whole
community accompanied me, and for the last time I
walked down the age-worn stairs, over the cobble-
stoned yard, passing by the old statues, through the
cloisters where the Sisters were lined up for a last fare-
well.

聖堂に下りていく時間になりました．仲間全員が
私に同伴です．そして、最後にもう一度あの摺り
つぶれた階段を下りて行きました．小石を敷き埋
めた庭を通り、古い立像を通り過ぎ、回廊にやっ
て来ました．そこには、シスターたちが最後のお
別れのため、立ち並んでいました．
