It was the first time I had been in this part of the Abbey.
The massive door opened into a big room
with an arched ceiling ; the one column in the middle
had beautifully simple lines.
Almost all the rooms in this wonderful Abbey were arched,
the ceilings carried by columns ; the windows were
made of stained glass, even in the school wing.

修道院で、こういう場所に、来たのは、初めてでした。
分厚い扉を開けると、中は、
アーチ型の天井の、大きな部屋でした。；中程にある
一本の柱には、素朴だが、線が入っていて、見事なものでした。
修道院の、こんな場所に来たのは、これが、初めてでした。
重々しい扉を開けると、中は、
丸天井の大きな部屋でした ； 真ん中の一本の柱には、
単純な線のデザインで、美しかった。
この修道院では、ほとんどの部屋は、
アーチ状で、天井は、柱で、支えられていました ；
学舎部分でさえ、窓は、ステンドグラスに、なっていました。
